Help your child learn new patterns of behavior and release old patterns rapidly through the use of hypnosis for autism.
Jody Kimmell, CHt, is one of the leading experts in the country on the use of hypnotic interventions for children (from 5 to 18) with high functioning autism or Asperger’s. Jody has worked with and successfully achieved these results:
- Management of anger;
- Reduction in/management of stress;
- Increase in autonomy and self confidence;
- Improve impulse control;
- Improve social behaviors (eye contact, introversion, etc.)
- Improved sleep/bedtime routine;
- Improvement in self efficacy;
- Reduction/elimination of tics and nervous behaviors;
- Elimination of enuresis (bedwetting);
- Increased focus & concentration/span of attention.
While hypnosis is not a “cure” for autism, specific behavioral concerns can be improved to a degree that is significant enough to improve the quality of life for both the child and the family as a whole. In consultation, Jody will explain what is possible and reasonable to expect for your child based on his or her individual gifts and their and your desires for behavioral changes.
[box] The use of hypnosis for any diagnosed issue requires a medical referral from the diagnosing physician or psychiatrist. This is not difficult to obtain, and we will provide you the forms and help with the process. [/box]
Using a practical and proven methodology called Self Programmed Control (or “SPC”), Jody will work with your child to increase self-actualization and self confidence step-by-step. Each step of the SPC program is designed to increase a person’s belief in themselves as they see tangible, reproducible evidence of their ability to control their mind, their reactions both physical and emotional, and through that, their experience in the world. They learn, for example, step by step how to control their emotions so that understand, experientially, that they have a choice in how to respond to people, events and situations in their lives.

In addition to his advanced training in hypnotherapy and Neurolinguistic Programming, Jody Kimmell is a certified PCA with over 10 years of experience working with both children and adults with autism in both private home settings and group homes. Both Cindy Locher and Jody Kimmell have personal experience with autism in addition to Jody’s professional expertise, as they both have children in their own families who are “on the spectrum.” We understand your, and your childrens’, needs.
About SPC: SPC was developed by Dr. Alfred A. Barrios, clinical psychologist. Dr. Barrios is a recognized authority on human behavior. He is the inventor of the Stress Control Card and author of the book, Towards Greater Freedom & Happiness.
SPC provides the two basic components to achieve self-actualization: 1) The Belief Building Self-Control Methods–the power to make the needed changes; 2) The Positive Direction component to determine what changes you might want to make.
SPC has been used with successful results (improvements in grades, reduction of stress, or other benchmarks as appropriate to the individual or organization) in the following schools, companies, and governmental bodies, and has been adapted for use with children with autism by Jody Kimmell:
- East Los Angeles Community College
- Rockwell International
- US Air Force
- US Navy
- Santa Monica College
- Southwest College
- Walt Whitman High School
- New York City Police Department
- and others
In addition to the SPC program, Jody has adapted other hypnotic methodologies to his clients with autism. These methodologies are used in a tailored approach with each client according to his or her needs and abilities, and include visualization, the control room technique, trigger words/power words, and more, all designed to empower your child in positive, effective ways.

*Disclaimer: Everyone’s different, and of course your results may vary. It is unethical to guarantee changes in human behavior and much depends on your motivation. We do require a consultation during which the program will be explained, and your motivation will be evaluated. We do not accept everyone who approaches us to do this work because we believe that your success is our success and we work to set you up to succeed.
