What is the “Weight Loss Diamond?”

The Weight Loss Diamond is the visual representation of the many facets of the physical, mental, emotional, and environmental factors that when working together, support good, strong, steady energy and facilitate weight loss.  Have one of these elements out of step, not functioning well, and it can bring weight loss to a halt, and leave you feeling tired, with poor sleep, a sluggish metabolism and “stubborn” fat.

This is NOT a diet.  In this program you’ll have a lot of “aha!” moments as you discover how your body works and how to get all these factors “rowing in the same direction.” And when that happens, saying yes to healthy choices is easy, and weight loss is natural.

This is NOT a diet!!!  This program, therefore, will work with whatever eating style you choose. Vegetarian? Paleo? Reducing portion sizes? Reduce carbs? Count calories or points? Any of these will work, as you know–it’s just a matter of which is right for you and then sticking with it.  We’ll discuss the role of the macro nutrients and macro nutrient ratios and you will learn how to best feed your body in a way that works for you, with strategies and tools that will make your decisions stick.

How does hypnosis play a role?

Knowledge of the Weight Loss Diamond is just information until your mind accepts it on a deeper level, and acceptance on a deeper level is required for behaviors to change.  That’s where hypnosis comes in.  Hypnosis is simply the best and fastest method to let go of your old behaviors, and “re-train” your mind for healthier habits, a healthy relationship with food and with yourself.

You’ll have sessions in the group to release old beliefs and embrace new ones, and you’ll learn to use self hypnosis to reinforce your new behaviors and move more easily and quickly toward your weight loss and fitness goal.

With hypnosis it feels different.  I’ve heard from so many clients how it’s “not a fight” any more. Good behaviors are so much easier, and it’s easier to treat yourself right, good choices are easy to the point of being automatic.  Yes, there’s still effort to be applied, but hypnosis simply makes it easier.  It’s important to understand that hypnosis doesn’t cause weight loss-changes in your diet and activity level are still responsible for that.  But how many times have you thought to yourself, “I KNOW what I should be doing….why don’t I just do that?” The answer is habit, and sometimes emotional reasons. And all habit and all emotion lies in the subconscious mind, so any strategy that doesn’t address your subconscious mind is bound to be more of an effort and less effective.  Studies show that adding hypnosis to a weight loss program increases the effectiveness of that program.

How do I know if this program is right for me?

If you have between 15 and 70 pounds to lose, this program is designed for you.  This is not an extreme calorie reduction program like Medifast or others, so you may not see the weight come off as quickly with this program as with a program like that.  The goal of this program is both short term weight loss, and long term behavioral change.  Many Medifast clients regain their lost weight in a matter of months.  Studies have proven that slower weight loss is more permanent, because you have time to adopt new, healthier habits.

So, if you’re looking for instant weight loss, this program is not for you. If you are looking to lose a reasonable amount of weight during the program, and have your habits retrained and gain the skills to continue losing after the program is over, then this IS the program for you.

Why is Cindy qualified to run this program?

Cindy Locher is not only a board certified hypnotherapist and specialist in behavioral issues, she is also a certified nutritional coach (through the National Exercise and Sports Training Association).  Her most important credential isn’t on a wall, though.  In the early 1990’s, when Cindy was depressed and married to an alcoholic, her Dad helped her to regain her self esteem and lose the weight (53 pounds) using hypnosis. Cindy has experienced first hand the amazing ability of these mind/body techniques to replace negative relationships with food with positive, healthy ones, and she’s excited to share that experience with you!

What happens if I have to miss a session?

Sessions will be recorded and you can listen to the recording, check in with a friend, and review the materials for that week.  Then come back the following week & keep going!

How can you offer this for such a low price? Is it really effective?

The price is significantly lower than traditional one-on-one hypnotherapy for weight loss because this is a group program, and thus the group shares the cost.  Not only is it effective, studies show that group programs, because of the support and energy of the group, are more effective than individual weight loss efforts.  Even more effective are Challenges, and this program provides both!

What if I can’t be hypnotized? Will the program still work?

First, almost everyone can be hypnotized, there are very few exceptions and you won’t be one of them (exceptions include certain brain injuries and drug/alcohol addictions). Second, hypnosis is simply a state of relaxed, focused mental attention, such as when you’re watching a movie and get emotionally involved in the story (either scared, or excited, or crying). If you’re capable of that, or daydreaming, or if you’ve ever driven somewhere and not remembered the last 20 minutes or so of your drive, then you can be hypnotized.  Cindy hypnotizes large groups all the time in her classes at Normandale.  However, because hypnosis is only a portion of this program, even if you felt that hypnosis wasn’t the strongest piece for you, the program would still be effective and beneficial!

How does the Challenge work?

The Challenge has two levels, both based on largest percentage of body weight lost.  Everyone will be weighed in at the beginning of the first meeting.  At the beginning of the fifth meeting, the person who has lost the largest percentage of their body weight at that point will receive a gift certificate for a free individual hypnosis session with Cindy (a $165 value!); and at end of the eighth and final session, the person with with overall largest percentage of body weight lost will receive a refund of their program fee!

*While this program is designed to “stand alone” as a complete weight loss solution, occasionally individual concerns are better addressed in individual sessions, either due to the ability to use techniques that aren’t appropriate in groups, or due to the individual’s preference for privacy.  These requests will always be accommodated.
